Elgar Festival 2007

In 2007 the musical world celebrates the 150th anniversary of the birth of Edward Elgar, Britain’s most celebrated composer.

City of Bristol Choir is staging a series of concerts featuring his most famous choral music. The festival so far has included a memorable concert of Dream of Gerontius with City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, and a moving performance of The Apostles. Performances of smaller choral and orchestra pieces and songs are also being performed in Fringe Events throughout the season.

The festival finale will be held on 11th November with a performance of The Kingdom in Bristol's Colston Hall - a poignant and moving way to mark Remembrance Sunday.

We are delighted to announce that the Scottish soprano Lisa Milne will appear with City of Bristol Choir, Exultate Singers and City of Bristol Symphony Orchestra for this performance. A singer with a wealth of experience on concert and operatic stages worldwide, she has appeared with eminent conductors such as Simon Rattle and Charles Mackerras, and with world-class orchestras including the Berlin Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra. A powerful communicator with magnificent stage presence, we look forward to what promises to be a stunning performance in the Festival finale.

We look forward to seeing you at these concerts and events - make 2007 your Year Of Elgar!
